A J Brett is one of London’s leading antique furniture restorers with considerable experience in restoring all types of English and Continental furniture, particularly 18th and 19th century, Art Deco and Biedermeier. We have been in business since 1952 and our clients include embassies, auction houses, antique dealers, interior designers as well as many private customers.
We provide a high quality service to all our customers, many of whom have been bringing their furniture to us for restoration for many years. A large part of our new business comes via recommendations from existing customers.

Bespoke design and making of your furniture
We undertake commissions to design and make furniture to your specific requirements so as to create a unique piece for your home or business environment.
We can visit you at any time within the London area (visits outside London by arrangement) to discuss your requirements and offer a free estimate.
Our skilled craftsmen can design and make unique pieces of furniture to your precise specification. We can also copy an existing piece of furniture to make a pair or make copies of a dining chair to make a larger set.
We can make furniture in any timber such as mahogany, satinwood, birch, walnut, macassar ebony or in any lacquer or paint finish you desire.
We re-upholster any item large or small
We work closely with a highly skilled upholsterer who can re-upholster any item large or small using fabric or leather whether supplied by you or us. We can advise you on the suitability of fabrics for your furniture.
We undertake a full upholstery service including re-webbing and re-springing seats. We use traditional filling or, if appropriate, high quality foam in cushions or chair seats. We can incorporate deep or floating buttons if required.
We can finish your seats in a variety of ways including piping, braid or upholstery nails in a wide range of styles and finishes.
