When restoring your furniture, our high level of workmanship and attention to detail provide a superb result. Contact us for more information about our furniture repair services!

Design and Build of Bespoke Furniture

We undertake commissions to design and make furniture to your specific requirements to create a bespoke piece for your home or business environment. Our skilled team can design and make unique pieces of furniture to your precise specification. We can also copy an existing piece of furniture, for example to make a pair or to create a larger set of dining chairs. Bespoke furniture can be made from any timber such as mahogany, satinwood, birch, walnut or macassar ebony, and finished in any lacquer or paint you desire. Additionally, we can include glass features and upholstery in the design. Please contact us to discuss the extensive possibilities.

Re-upholstery with Textile or Leather

Our team includes a highly skilled upholsterer who can re-upholster any item large or small using fabric or leather. Our full upholstery service includes re-webbing and re-springing seats. We use traditional filling or, if appropriate, high quality foam in cushions or chair seats. To finish your seats, you can choose from piping, braids or upholstery nails. We’re happy to advise you on the suitability of fabrics for your furniture and have a large selection of fabrics, leathers and finishes available in our fabric library.

French Polishing

At A.J. Brett, we combine traditional polishing with the latest technology using heat and water resistant polishes for wooden surfaces. We can refinish tables, desks, sideboards, cabinets and chairs with damage, including scratches and watermarks. This way, we restore them to their original condition.

Gilding

As part of our furniture repair services, we offer re-gilding of antique furniture, including picture and mirror frames. Our gilder is experienced in traditional and modern gilding techniques, so we can deliver outstanding work.

Caning and Rushing

We work with a qualified caner who re-canes and re-rushes chairs and other items of furniture. Our caner uses traditional materials to repair your furniture. By matching the existing cane work, we ensure an authentic result.
